Landscaping Duty...

The old cushions on Mayhem! were in serious need of improvement. Long decided as a job to be handled by Amber, co-owner Dan's lovely and very pregnant wife, she set to working on them last week. Amber graciously agreed to make color scheme and interior design plans for Mayhem! while Dan and I focused on the exterior work. I wasn't too sure about this until I went over and saw their recently redesigned kitchen/home remodel which turned out incredible. Once I saw that, I knew she'd do better than I ever could picking out fabric color/pattern, paint scheme etc.

On to the work... Amber is the owner of the worlds oldest functioning sewing machine. It requires a team of oxen walking in a circle around a crank post to operate.  (ok...possibly a bit of an exaggeration but not too far off). After some lubing and dusting off, the "machine" was ready to go.

Conveniently, Amber had invited her Grandma out for a visit at the same time the project was to take place. Grandma is reportedly a fine seamstress and between the two of them, they ought to be able to turn out a real quality upholstery job for Mayhem!. Before Grandma arrived Dan, Amber, and I, who all work together at Windermere Real Estate/South Whidbey, jokingly narrated how the sewing event was to take place. Recalling "Happy Gilmore" with Adam Sandler & Ben Stiller and one of the best lines from the movie...

Although I am sure it didn't really go down like this, it is still funny that Grandma is put to work sewing boat cushions on her vacation to Whidbey!

Here is a pick of the magic underway... Too bad we don't get to see Grandma and Amber in action... they are likely in the kitchen icing their fingers in preparation for the four hours of extended crafts time...

The cushions, while not all completed yet, are looking great.

In this photo, the cushion appears a bit more grey than it is. It is actually a blue/green color and will look quite nice.
